Thirty young people aged between 14 and 20, who are dancers in the Folklore Dance Ensemble “Gaitani,” took part in the project activities. In their work, they were guided by the professional choreographer Valentin Angelov and supported by the ensemble’s director, Roza Chanova-Miloslavova. The dancers participated in two training sessions focused on the creation of a new dance from the Northern Bulgarian (Severnyashka) folklore region.
The new dance was presented on stage for the first time during the tour of the Folklore Dance Ensemble “Gaitani” at the largest and most prestigious international folklore festival on the African continent – the International Folklore Festival Marrakech Folklore Days, held in Marrakech, Morocco, from 23 to 27 October 2025. The dance was included in the ensemble’s repertoire and was performed at all of its appearances.
The project was implemented in the period from 01 October to 30 October 2025 with the financial support of the Municipality of Shumen, within the 2025 funding session for youth projects, in implementation of the Youth Development Strategy 2023–2025.
